It’s 11pm on Mother’s Day. I doubt I can type fast enough to get this done today. Goals are good I suppose. Can you say P-R-O-C-R-A-S-T-I-N-A-T-O-R?
This post is obviously devoted to Mother’s Day. However, I want to devote this specifically to WORKING Mother’s. Before I start, I want to be clear. I’m not suggesting that “non-working” Mother’s have it easy. Or that they don’t make sacrifices. Or that they don’t WORK. They most certainly make sacrifices and work really hard. But what I DO want to do is throw out a huge thanks and write specifically to all those Moms crazy enough to work AND raise kids! From my admittedly sheltered perspective, they don’t seem to get a lot of fan-fare or glory. In some cases I’ve even witnessed some being judged for their decision to work (way not cool man). Granted, I’m biased because my wife, Marie, is a working Mom. But seeing how this is my blog, I think my bias should get a pass this time. As I type this, Marie is on the couch batting away at her keyboard on something for work. She works hard.
Really, really really, really hard.
Really.
Hard.
Seriously.
She makes dinner, drives Twiggy to the preschool. She does the grocery shopping, and works for the most overbearing unreasonable micromanaging person in the WORLD!!! Ok, that part’s not true. Her boss is cool (hey Ethan, I mean it, you’re pretty cool)! She also plays art director (unwittingly) for my photography work, and she’s essentially my CFO for the business. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. She does so much more than that. I love you baby and you do a great job juggling everything! Below is a picture of her at her Grandmother’s birthday party. Marie doesn’t let me take pictures of her typically, I stole this one. It’s currently my favorite of her.
Marie’s certainly not the only one. My Mom is another. She’s got this “kid” who just won’t finish school and move out. Seriously, Dad, she let you go back to school? How cool is that?! And there’s countless other Moms that make the sacrifice to be away from their kids all do so that they can work. Be it necessity or some other personal need, I commend you all!
I think I typed fast enough to make it in! Happy Mother’s Day!
